Daikin Europe publishes leaflets on-demand
Daikin Europe N.V. is the sales and manufacturing head quarter for Europe, some parts of Africa and the Middle East. Daikin Europe N.V. is a 100% subsidiary of Daikin Industries, Ltd., a global leader in the air conditioning systems industry.

For Daikin Europe we implemented a Publish-on-Demand solution with which all subsidiairies can generate their printed leaflets in all possible languages used within Daikin (ranging from English, German to Polisch Russian and Greek)

The user is taken by the hand in a step-by-step wizard, going from selection of the type of publication, through desired language, through selection of available marketing text and selection of available images. The endresult is a DTP-file in Indesign CS2 which is ready for print. Optionally the file can be directly generated in a press-ready PDF file.

Why Daikin Europe chose guideline belgium
For this project Daikin Europe asked several companies specialised in automated publishing solutions to make an offer for the project. After comparing these offers Daikin Europe chose Guideline Belgium to do the project. The reasons for this choice were a.o; according to Jeroen Verbeke:
  • experience in publishing languages such as Polisch, Greek, Russian and other CE and Cyrillic languages to InDesign
  • guaranteed delivery time and result
  • to every question we have an answer
Phases
The phases that were implemented are:
  • Interpretation of the XML delivered by Daikin Europe's Tridion based CMS.
The content of the CMS was exported in a format which could be used in our software.
  • Import in CMS
The unicode file was directly imported into the CMS, linking the information to the original records.
  • Export to DTP
The generation of the paper catralogue is automated with xCS.press resulting in a fully laid-out Adobe Framemaker Book, including a table of Content and an Index.
  • Finalisation
After adding the standard static entry and closing pages the catalogue was delivered to the printer.
