Challenge

Grömo is one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of drainage systems and accessories. They make use of six different material types in order to develop and produce their products to the highest quality. They also only source these materials from the best suppliers of the highest quality raw materials.

In order to support their continued European growth, Grömo searched for a solution allowing them to react quicker to the market requirements. The then current manual method of producing catalogues and price lists was slow and costly. The expansion plan would drive these costs even higher so a solution to this was needed quickly.

Solution

To start with a content management system (CMS) was implemented in order to manage all the product data and publications that needed to be created. On the basis of this CMS, xCS.content, the German and English pricelists and product catalogues were published.

Directly following these the same information was published to the new website. In addition to the product information, the static information such as news and events are managed and stored in the CMS and published dynamically to the website. The most important features of the websites are the search possibilities (through keywords and article codes), the generation of complex matrix tables and the staging module. This last feature allows a information to be published to the website in phases, including a preview on an internal site before publishing the data to the live website.

Result

The result is a well oiled system and workflow whereby a catalogue can be published both online and offline in the shortest time. Furthermore the system takes account of regional information and products. Now that the first publications have are ready, the next goal is to translate the product data to an additional 8 languages including Polish and Hungarian and publish this data to paper and the internet.

Return on Investment

One of the reasons for choosing guideline’s solution was the fact that we could calculate the ROI very accurately. Without going into the exact figures (which will make available on request), Grömo concluded that on the basis of the current publications an ROI of two and a half years will be achieved. However, due to the extra languages and publications that they now plan to publish both to paper and online, the actual ROI will be closer to one year! These calculations do not include the immeasurable price of correct and up to date information published.
